2003 All-Alberta Players --- Pre-Season

2003 Edmonton All-Pro Camp Top Offensive Lineman
Congratulations to Shane Ward on being named the Top Offensive Lineman for the 2003 All-Pro Camp (Edmonton). Shane was selected from a number of very talented players at this year's camp, held at Taylor University in Edmonton, July 2003.Congratulations to Shane Ward on being named Offensive Lineman with the Alberta Sporting Youths 2003 Pre-Season "All Alberta 1st Team". Alberta Sporting Youth has identified players from throughout Alberta to its 1st, 2nd and 3rd Teams...as well as including Sting QB Ryan Rabideau, Linebacker Trevor Woods, and OL Chris Speakman for Honourable Mention.

Alberta Sporting Youth acknowledges that "Pre-Season" predictions are a bit of a crap shoot and that other players will emerge as stars during the season. With the great talent available on the Sting Football Club, look for more of our players to be highlighted!

Alberta Sporting Youth’s Impact Players of 2003

The following players already have or likely will make an impact on high school gridirons across Alberta this season. We'll be adding more as they come to our attention. Players are named at only one position. A few positions have been featured to date and many more of our players have potential to be named to the site. As more are added, this site will be updated.

Congratulations to the following Sting players on being named Impact Players of 2003:

  • Receiver: Zach Nelson

  Fort Saskatchewan OG Shane Ward is considering UBC, SFU as well as Alberta.

Awarded to a player who demonstrated the greatest amount of improvement in skill and play through the year.

Awarded to a player on offense occupying an interior line position. The recipient must have performed at a very high level throughout the year and made a significant contribution to the success of the offensive unit.

Awarded to a player on defense occupying a backfield position. The recipient must have performed at a very high level throughout the year and made a significant contribution to the success of the defensive unit.

Most Valuable Player (Team MVP)

Awarded to the player(s) who was most valuable to the team in several positions including specialty teams.

Most Valuable Offensive Back (Offensive MVP)

Ian Campbell

The recipient must have performed at a very high level throughout the year and made a significant contribution to the success of the offensive unit.
