The Sting About Us Awards Resources

Hello,

We expect the 2011 season to be a very exciting and rewarding experience for everyone involved with the Sting Football Organization. In the off season, the Sting have continued to develop their coaching staff obtaining new NCCP training and certifications and have worked hard in the off season to generate more player interest within the Fort Saskatchewan area. In addition to obtaining new NCCP training and certifications, our coaching staff have both extensive playing and coaching experience, which I believe will continue to lay a solid foundation to further develop the Sting Football Program.

The Sting will be entering into the 2011 season with a renewed confidence. Coming off a successful 2010 development season, the Sting expect to further develop their Team and Program with another very competitive season. It is important to point out that the Sting is still in a rebuilding stage and everyone from the players, coaches, executives, and parents will play an integral role in the rebuilding process. As proven last year, a rebuilding season does not mean that we as a Team will not see success and that we will not obtain rewards, in the contrary, we as a Team expect to achieve great success on and off the field. Player involvement, player development, Team and individual growth, increased practice and game time for all players, increased Team and player performances, and just simply having fun playing football is what a Sting player can expect this year if he / she is committed to the Team.

Team commitment is very important to the Sting. During practices and games – the Team comes first always. Players are expected to show up for practice and give 100% effort at all times. High School football is very competitive and is very physical so it is important to ensure that our players are prepared safely and efficiently to participate in football practices and games. We can only prepare our players if they are committed to the Team and committed to show up for practices. Your commitment to the Team and effort on the practice field will directly translate to your development and game time. Team goals are important and must be strived for in order to achieve Team and Program success. Football is truly a team sport. The game cannot be played, won, or lost by a few individuals – it takes the involvement and effort of all 12 players on the field and coaching staff to make good things happen. In a team environment the Team come first, however, the coaching staff recognizes the importance of individual goals as well and we will do our best to help you safely and efficiently achieve them.

The Sting has a strong historic background of developing and sending football players to play on Alberta All-star Teams during their High School playing careers and we take great pride in the fact that we also have a strong historic background of sending graduating players on to very successful CJFL and University football careers. In 2011 alone, the Sting has had 2 of their first year players make Team Alberta North U-15 and play in the Alberta Bantam Bowl, 1 player make Team Alberta U-18 and play in the Canadian National Canada Cup bringing home a silver medal, 3 players recruited to CJFL Teams, and 1 player recruited to the U of A Golden Bears Football Team. The Sting has a good working relationship with Edmonton CJFL Teams and CIS Teams which assists our young football players, who are interested in playing post secondary football, meet their personal post secondary football goals.

We will strive to make your Sting football experience a positive one. You will develop, you will learn that positive results will be the outcome of commitment and hard work, you will play in football games – not watch them, you will meet and make new friends, you will be part of a Team that values your input, and you will have fun.

I look forward to seeing you on the gridiron.
