Hello, We expect the 2010 season to be an exciting and rewarding experience for everyone involved with the Sting football team. The Sting has recently made some changes to our coaching staff and have added 2 new coaches to our staff this season. Our coaching staff consists of coaches that have both extensive playing / coaching experience, including coaches with NCCP certifications. During the off season the coaching staff have worked hard to revise our football program and to recruit new players. I believe the coaches work in the off season will show good results and that our 2010 team and program is off to a good start. The Sting will be a young team this year with approximately 60% of the players being new to the game of Football. Although a young team provides a few challenges, a young team also creates all kinds of excitement. The 2010 season will be a rebuilding season for the Sting and everyone from the players, coaches, executives and parents will be an integral part of the rebuilding process. It is important to note that a rebuilding season does not mean that we as a team will not see success and will not obtain rewards, in the contrary, we as a team expect to achieve huge success on and off the field this year. Player involvement, player development, team / individual growth, increased game time for all players, increased team / player performance, and just simply having fun playing football is what a player can expect this year if he / she is committed to the team. Team commitment is very important to us. During practices and games - the team comes first always. We are expected to show up for every practice and give 100% effort at all times. High School football is very competitive and is very physical so it is important to ensure that our players are prepared and we can only prepare the players if they are committed to the team. Your commitment and effort on the practice field will directly relate to success in your development and in game time. Team goals are important and must be met in order to achieve team and program goals. Football is truly a team sport. The game can not be played or won by 1 or 2 players – it takes the efforts and involvement of all 12 players on the field to make good things happen. As individuals we all have personal wants and goals that are very important to us. In a team environment the team comes first, but, that does not mean your personal goals are to be completely erased from your memory. The coaching staff recognizes the importance of achieving individual goals and will do our best to help you safely and efficiently achieve them. The Sting has a strong historic background of developing and sending football players to play on Alberta all-star teams during their high school playing careers and we take pride in the fact that we also have a strong historic background of sending graduating players on to very successful CJFL and/or University football careers. We will strive to make your Sting football experience a positive one. You will develop, you will learn that positive results will be the outcome of hard work and commitment, you will play in football games – not watch them, you will meet and make new friends, you will be part of a team that values your input, and you will have fun. I look forward to seeing you on the gridiron. Jeffrey Brett Head Coach – Sting Football
